Dear ECE Families, Welcome to our second year as Elk Creek Elementary School. Again, I would like to introduce myself as your new principal. I have been in Garfield Re-2 School District for 12 years as a middle school teacher, elementary teacher and elementary instructional coach. I am so excited to now work at Elk Creek Elementary and help guide this school to greatness. I see many parents in the building, and I would love to see more. Our first PTAC meeting was well attended, so I hope that continues. If you are unsure about what help you could offer, contact Emily Quinn (president of PTAC), myself (665-6910) or your child’s teacher. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable being in our building to help both staff and students. Friday Flight has changed to every two weeks. We decided it would be more meaningful for students and would give teachers more time to prepare. We also wanted to be able to include our part-time kindergarten class, so the Friday Flight schedule generally follows their Fridays in school. We will keep you posted on those dates. If you have celebrations you would like to share or concerns that you have, please contact your child’s teacher or myself. The only way to build a strong learning community for the children is to communicate with each other. I look forward to a successful year. Sincerely, Carrie Close Hassel (665-6910) Look Who's Who in Re-2 Step into Deb Bolitho’s fourth grade classroom and it may look like controlled chaos, but that is by design. Bolitho tries to incorporate movement into as many lessons as possible and it is not uncommon to see students racing balloons across the classroom with answers in their heads to get the approval of their favorite teacher.
